Hotel Zachary, just across the street from Wrigley Field, is wrapping up construction and plans to officially open March 26. Reservations went live on Tuesday, so if you’re hoping to snag a room act quickly.

The hotel will be ready for the Cubs’ home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 9, but for now the earliest guests will be able to reserve a room is April 26. Reservations for earlier dates, including opening day, will be released in the coming weeks, according to the hotel. It’d be smart to check in on the hotel’s Twitter to find out when that might be.

The hotel has a total of 173 guest rooms, including 20 suites. Accommodations start at $209 per night, but on game days that rate goes up to $309. Some larger suites go for $506 per night. Although, those rates could change depending on demand and the season.

Hotel Zachary preview

Hotel Zachary is named after the architect of Wrigley Field—Zachary Taylor Davis. Originally the ballpark was called the Weeghman Park and the Chicago Whales played there. Davis also designed White Sox Park, later known as Comiskey Field which was demolished in 1991.

The hotel made it clear from the start that it wasn’t going to be a tourist stop for baseball memorabilia lovers. The furnishings, finishes and artwork are inspired by Chicago’s baseball history but the rooms remain stylish and modern. The ivy-green headboards, leather chairs the color of a Rawlings baseball glove and blonde wooden closets evoke the history of Wrigley without flashing Cubs everywhere.

Room types include a typical king or two queen bed layout. The large suites include one-bedroom, loft and the Wrigley suites which are equipped with a gentleman’s chest and bar set up. These rooms also have a private balcony with killer views. Going one step further, the signature Marquee suites have a residential layout with a lounge and dining room.

Aside from the rooms, the hotel has a pretty stellar line up of food options which include Big Star, West Town Bakery, Smoke Daddy and a rooftop opening in 2019.

Oh and incase this has put you in the baseball mood, single tickets for regular season Cubs games go on sale Friday.
